Cholagogue - stimulates and increases the flow of bile.
Chronic condition - persisting over a long period of time.
Contraindication - a disease condition which renders a particular line of treatment improper or undesirable.
Demulcent - a soothing bland agent which allays irritation of inflamed or abraded surfaces (internal and external).
Depurative - a purifying medicine.
Diaphoretic - promotes perspiration
Diuretic - causes and increases secretion and flow of urine.
Dyspepsia - Impaired digestive function.
Eliminant - promotes emptying of the bowel.
Emetic - causes vomiting.
Emmenagogue - an agent which promotes menstruation.
Emollient - an agent which soothes and softens irritated or inflamed skin or internal surfaces.
Expectorant - facilitates the expulsion of sputum from the broncho-pulmonary mucosa.
Galactagogue - an agent which promotes the production and flow of breast milk.
Hemostatic - arrests the flow of blood.
Hypotensive - causing a reduction in blood pressure.
Leukorrhea - a whitish, viscid discharge from the vagina and uterine cavity.
Modulator - regulates, adjusts or adapts.
Protective - affords defense against deleterious influences.
Resolvent - promotes softening and dissipation of inflammatory swelling.
Rubefacient - reddens the skin when applied topically.
Stomachic - promotes the functional activity of the stomach.
Styptic - arrests bleeding through a strongly astringent action.
Tonic - produces or restores normal tone to the functions and tissues of the body.
Vulnerary - promotes healing of wounds.
