  GRAVEL ROOT (Joe Pye Weed)
Eupatorium purpureum
Liquid extract of dried root

Actions: Mildly stimulating diuretic and astringent tonic that is very soothing to the urinary tract. Facilitates elimination of uric acid and prevents formation of urinary stones.

Uses: Chronic burning and irritation of urinary passages with constant urge to urinate (sense of obstruction), and painful, scanty, high-colored urine with mucous and blood. Excellent remedy in chronic cases of cystitis, urethritis, nephritis; urinary tract infections and catarrhs; tenesmus, strangury and stricture; albuminuria; prostatitis with boggy prostate, and benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH). Also useful in rheumatism, lumbago and gout. Excellent uterine tonic and "female remedy" indicated in chronic atony, irritability or displacement of uterus; chronic cases of endometritis, leukorrhea, amenorrhea and dysmenorrhea; and threatened miscarriage.

Dose: Take 30 to 40 drops, 3 to 4 times per day. Best given in hot water.
