Action:
Studies have shown that asiaticoside (a naturally occurring terpenoid
compound found in Gotu Kola plants) stimulates rapid and healthy growth
of the reticuloendothelium. Oral doses of asiaticoside have been shown
to strengthen the skin, stimulate growth of hair & nails, promote
vascularization of connective tissue, and enhance local and general
leukocytosis.
Gotu Kola has been used in the folk medicine of Madagascar, Sri Lanka
& India in the treatment of leprosy, varicose ulcers, lupus
and certain obstinate eczemas.
Uses: To be used in the establishment and maintenance
of healthy connective tissue, and to facilitate its healthy regeneration
in cases of injury or disease. Indicated in the healing of skin lesions
(abrasions, cuts, burns and ulcerations) and as a tonic for minimizing
the aging and wrinkling of skin; stomach, duodenal and intestinal ulcers;
varicose veins and hemorrhoids; scleroderma and repair of eroded, arthritic
joints.
Dose: Tonic & Chronic: One to
three times per day, take 30 to 40 drops in a little water.
Acute: Three to five times per day, take 30 to 40 drops
in a little water.
Topical: Gently massage into the area to be treated
until liquid is well absorbed. May sting if liquid comes into contact
with broken skin, the eyes or mucous membranes.
Cautions: The maladies listed above can be serious
health threats, and some can be deadly if not treated properly. It is
therefore important that these problems be treated by a qualified healthcare
practitioner.
